With our focus in May on disarming the Inner Critic, we have been thinking a lot about our attitudes towards ourselves Hearing precious stories from others about finding new, kinder and more appreciative ways of viewing themselves has inspired us to do the same. One great suggestion is to write a Love Letter to yourself expressing all the things you value and adore about yourself. Does that make you cringe? If so, think carefully about what that might mean about your primary relationship (with yourself). Interested? Come and join us for the Standing up to your Inner Critical Parent: Daring Greatly Workshop and let our community embolden you to become your own best friend!
We have three warm welcomes to offer this month, to our new Office Administrator, Lani Schwartz and to two new associates, Lara Lorge and Lori Shifrin. We first met Lani when she did the RA Course in 2011 and are very happy to have her join us with her wealth of admin and counselling experience. Our new Associate Lara, is a social worker with rich experience in recovery from addiction and trauma. She is currently doing her Clinical Masters in Social Work at UCT and will be sharing her passion for recovery and couple and family work with us as a part-time counsellor. Lori is a clinical Social Worker, also with a background in recovery from addiction and trauma and loss and grief. - Workshop on Standing up to the Inner Critical Parent – Daring Greatly
While self-reflection can enrich our lives, a relentlessly critical attitude towards ourselves can be hugely debilitating. A harsh Inner Critic can be a legacy of the past that obstructs us sharing the wealth of who we are with the world and embracing our lives fully. If you would like to have a good look at your Inner Critic and build your courage to pursue your dreams join us, on Friday 16th May for the day . Using Inner Child Work and drawing on Mindfulness practice and the work of Brene Brown, this gentle yet powerful day offers an opportunity to gain insight and tools to back yourself up in your life.
